Vivienne Tam designs a set of five one-of-a-kind Panda themed dresses to be auctioned off in Tokyo, Japan and Beijing. The auction proceeds are donated to the Wolong Panda Reserve Center in China and the World Wildlife Foundation in Japan to benefit the Pandas affected by the devastating earthquake in the Sichuan Province. The capsule collection worn by top celebrities from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan was photographed and featured in the November issues of Elle China, Elle Hong Kong and Elle Japan.

Vivienne Tam celebrates the brands 10 year anniversary in Japan with a fashion show and cocktails in Tokyo, Japan. In addition, Elle Japan includes a 20-page retrospective of Vivienne’s accomplishments to commemorate the event.

The worlds leading personal computer manufacturer, Hewlett Packard partners with Vivienne Tam to create the first ever “Digital Clutch.” The notebook debuted September 9th, 2008 on the catwalk of Vivienne’s spring/summer 2009 fashion show and will go on tour in cities such as Delhi, Tokyo, Beijing, London, Paris, Dubai and Moscow.

Vivienne Tam has partnered with Stardoll to launch her first virtual online boutique. Stardoll is the world's largest online entertainment destination for girls ages 9-17; Stardoll users can purchase virtual versions of Vivienne Tam's designs in exchange for Stardoll dollars and use them to dress up their own personal avatars. Vivienne Tam creates a mystical dining installation for DIFFA’s 11th Annual Dining By Design (DBD) event. Vivienne’s design creation will also be displayed at future DBD 2008 markets, including: New York, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Dallas, Atlanta, San Francisco, Chicago, and Boston.

Vivienne Tam creates a limited quantity of silk scarves to commemorate the grand opening of the Suzhou Museum in Suzhou, China. The museum is the latest major design by the world-renown architect, I.M.Pei.

Vivienne Tam collaborates with Platinum Guild International (PGI) to create “Platinum Wedding”. The Peninsula Hotel in Kowloon is home to Vivienne Tam’s eighth store in Hong Kong.

The Andy Warhol Show in Milan, Italy, features one of Vivienne Tam’s Mao dresses in their exhibit. The exhibit opens in September 2004 and runs through January of 2005.

World-renowned chef, Jean-George Vongerichten, commissions Vivienne Tam to design sleek and chic wait staff uniforms for his newest restaurant, JG, at Three on the Bund in Shanghai.

Vivienne Tam partners with Motorola designing three original mobile phone cases. Motorola held an event in Shanghai celebrating the collaboration and Vivienne presents her Spring 2006 collection at Motorola’s launch event held in Shanghai. Coinciding with the launch, Motorola has created a calendar with celebrities showcasing Vivienne Tam clothing and mobile phone case designs to be provided as a gift in all of China’s Motorola stores.

Vivienne Tam launches her newest division – Vivienne Tam Dress. The focus of the collection is cocktail ready day into evening. The line will be available at fine specialty and department stores March 2006.

Vivienne Tam is part of DIFFA, Infiniti and Conde Nast Media Group’s “vibrant” design forum at Nobu Fifty Seven in New York to celebrate and explore leading edge fashion, architecture and industrial design. Vivienne is one of six panelists, which included Nobu Matsuhisa, David Rockwell, Karim Rashid, Shiro Nakamur and Koji Nagano. The series will be featured on a website broadcast, as well as in over 12 major publications including Vogue, Vanity Fair, Architectural Digest and many more.

Vivienne Tam is awarded the 2005 World’s Outstanding Chinese Designer by the Hong Kong Design Center. The Hong Kong Design Center held an international conference “Business of Design Week” in November that focused on Asia’s hottest business trends, while celebrating design excellence. Vivienne Tam was also the closing speaker for the Business of Design Week award dinner. Other prominent speakers included James Dyson, Hans-Kristian Hoejsgaard, Ross Lovegrove, Stefano Marzano and Andree Putman.

Vivienne Tam opens her first store in Chidlom Department Store in Bangkok, Thailand in November 2005.

The Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. features Vivienne Tam designs for “The New China Chic, Eastern Designers, Global Fashions” exhibit, part of their ongoing Festival of China during the month of October. Vivienne Tam speaks at the Fortune Global Forum in Beijing,China. Concentrating on the increasing power of the luxury goods market, the forum brought together the worlds most successful and influential business leaders to discuss China’s increasing national strength as an emerging affluent class. Vivienne Tam was paired with Paolo Zegna of Ermenegildo Zegna Group for the panel, “Luxury Goods: Catering to the Consuming Passions of an Emerging Affluent Class,” where each designer discussed the evolving roles of the womenswear and menswear, respectively.

Vivienne Tam partners with Jessica Alba and CFDA for “Style & Sound”, a multi-faceted fundraising initiative on behalf of Fashion Targets Breast Cancer. Designing a customized iPOD case to pair with Alba’s personalized playlist, Tam’s creation was presented, along with other leaders in fashion and entertainment industry, at a live auction event held in June.

In its first celebrity advertising campaign, Northwest Airlines features Vivienne Tam, among other influential Asian celebrities, artists, and designers, to promote their new business class seats.

Vivienne Tam enters into a partnership with Jean-Georges Vongerichten, one of the world’s most celebrated chefs whose roster of restaurants includes Vong, Jean Georges, Spice Market, Prime Steakhouse, etc. Vivienne is asked to design the wait staff uniforms for “66,” the celebrity-studded Chinese restaurant in Tribeca, New York City.

The famed Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group chooses Vivienne Tam to design their signature fan, a transparent Lucite and mirrored creation, for permanent display within the lobby of the newest Mandarin Oriental Hotel at the Time Warner Building in New York City. This is the first time a fashion designer is commissioned to create their iconic logo.

The Shanghai International Fashion Center and the Lujiazhui District Government invite Vivienne Tam to participate in the 2003 Shanghai International Fashion Showcase. Vivienne Tam is in great company with internationally renowned brands such as Salvatore Ferragamo, Vivienne Westwood, Lanvin, Paul & Shark, Aigner and yachling. The show receives rave reviews from international journalists, as well as regional press. She also served as a judge for the London Awards.

Vivienne Tam is awarded at the China In Style Fashion Award by LYCRA and CHANNEL YOUNG, one of the most highly anticipated social events of the year. Vivienne opens a new freestanding store in Tokyo. This marks her second store to open in Japan after her flagship store in Kobe.

Vivienne Tam is selected to design and customize her first-ever automobile for General Motor’s “Concept Cure” program, which benefits the Nina Hyde Breast Cancer Research Fund. The car tours nationally and receives accolades for execution and design based upon the symbol of the dragon. Vivienne Tam’s car succeeds to evoke a sense of healing.

Vivienne Tam’s most notable designs will be prominently displayed in an exhibition titled “China Chic” at the Museum of FIT in New York City. The show will demonstrate the evolution of Chinese style and its influence on modern international fashion.

An exhibition titled “The Shape of the Colour: RED” at the Lighthouse in Glasgow will feature a full length red/black positive/negative Mao coat designed originally by Vivienne for Barneys New York 1997 holiday windows dressed by Simon Doonan.

The Victoria & Albert Museum in London is the third museum to include Vivienne’s “Mao” collection in their permanent archives. A temporary exhibition titled “Mao Craze” will be the first to feature Vivienne’s designs in the museum. Along with this Vivienne Tam is the sole American designer featured in the V & A’s ‘Fashion in Motion alongside footwear designer Jimmy Choo.

Vivienne Tam opens her first freestanding store in Soho, New York. The 2,700 square foot shop incorporates classic Chinese elements such as a pair of Fu Dogs, a 16-foot white cutout symbol of Double Happiness, eight antique wooden screens, and a red life-size dragon against a red wall. Vivienne signs a license with Candie’s to create a line of spring shoes. A Chinese inspired beaded mule with a lacquer carved heel becomes a best seller worldwide.

The 1997 spring collection creates an international trend for Chinese inspired clothing and receives rave reviews from the media. A signature floral embroidered net slip dress appears on the cover of WWD during fashion week.
